Cabinet Makeover

So we inherited this really cute red china cabinet recently and luckily our bedroom is mostly grays and whites so of course red would bring a pop of color to the room. Isn't it perfect?

With my new addiction to pinterest I have noticed all of these great bookcases with a fun wallpaper in the shelves and of course I thought I can do that! This is one from antrhopologie and I liked the idea of a bunch of books and the colors looked really good with the rust of the cabinet. It was too wide for it so I just cut out the black spaces.

One shelf at a time (I also just taped it because I know I will not want this wallpaper forever and the cabinet turned out to be my husbands great grandmothers, so I would like not to deface it).

Books, books, books!

It gives it kind of an eclectic feel.

Loaded it up with actual books, picture frames and some sentimental items (a tea set my parents brought back from China for me when I was little, a picture from my Mardi Gras themed deb party along with my mask from it, etc...)

Finito!

I think it turned out pretty good, don't you think?

Snagged!

I went to Austin today for my great-grandmother's 99th birthday, yup you heard right NINETY-NINE! She is still the most beautiful 99-year-old I have ever seen. Sidetracking, on the way home my mom asks if I wanted to stop at Neiman's Last Call and I reply do you even need to ask? However, we were with my grandfather and aunt also so we had limited time, in and out that was the goal. I went straight to shoes which are always my favorite and of course the only ones I liked were $285 and $735, not quite on my newly-wed budget. In my defeat I went to the back to look at furniture as we are looking for a house I just like to keep an eye out for amazing deals and steals. I went to meet my mom at the check-out counter and found this little jewel at 50% off! Right in time for my trip to Aspen. Another reason I love fall...

The Princess of Dog Wales

If you were a small child in the 90's or the parent of a small child in the 90's you knew of beanie babies. Those little heart shaped red tags held the so much joy and love, and for some reason I kept mine in a personalized beanie baby suitcase in the way back corner of my closet, why I have NO idea. So recently everyone loved everything about the royal wedding, there were so many souvenirs and memorabilia sold that aunt diane shelled out hundreds of dollars for a monogrammed mug. Someone told me that anything Princess Diana was selling like hot cakes and being my gullible self, although embarrassed to say, believed them. I whipped out my Princess Diana beanie baby and was certain it would go for a couple hundred on ebay. As we can see this was not the case...

So in my defeat and embarrassment I gave the Diana bear to the dog... However I think it was sacrilege during the beloved Princess of Whales son's wedding, because the thing is haunting me. I think maybe the things were made to sort of stand up, but whenever my pooch leaves it places it sits and stares at me. I started documented some of the findings because you just cannot make this up.

I came home for lunch one day, guess who was waiting for me....

In the kitchen:

Really....

Wayyy to early and before my coffee to awaken to this candle in the wind...

It even still looks creepy while Chief is playing with it...

Watching TV and realize England's Rose was watching me... Not kidding it was up on top of the ottoman.

This was the absolute worst. I tried to go 'green' with the dog toys and this organic hemp toy was found strangling her grace.
